To me, purchasing a plane ticket will always take precedence over a designer whatever. I’ll continue to try and find a balance between work and travel, while always being open to uncovering special opportunities that will take me anywhere.
We’re on the brink of 2012, but I’m not making a list of resolutions. Instead, among all the commitments I’ve made over the last few years, I’ll simply add one more to the list. From here on out, I’ll commit myself to always being open to new experiences and adventures (no matter where), to relish the times that I can get away, and also value them as life-changing, as integral to my growth as a human and an important way to connect with the world.
To what will you commit next year?

Getting back into a fitness groove, whether I’m stationary or traveling, including running another marathon and maybe starting my own business!
I know you’ll succeed at all of those things!
Travel is the big thing I’m committing to this year as well!
so shameful that it’s been so long since I’ve stopped by! so out of the loop, congrats on the new house!
I’m trying to commit to exercising more in the new year and travel.
Happy New Year Susan! Sounds like you are making a good commitment
I plan to explore my world as much as possible in 2012 and try to worry less!
I’m with you! Last year we decluttered and moved so we could do new things. This year we’re actually doing them. First up, the Grand Canyon in April!
One thing I KNOW I’ve got to commit to this year is growth – comfort can only take you so far…
i love this idea. i am committing to traveling to new england this year. it needs to happen and i want it to happen. also i’m partially committing to a trip to ireland, that’s more than just me and i want it to happen so hopefully it will!
I absolutely LOVE that you’re committing to traveling more and making it a priority. I’d like to travel more, as well, and simply SEE more of the world – near and far. And another commitment that I’m focusing on in 2012 is doing a better job of documenting my own life. (Since I’m a photographer, I get caught up in documenting others. Gotta have some photographs from my own life, too!)
I agree that it gets harder and harder to make the money and time for travel, but it’s definitely necessary if that is something you want to do. I love that map picture- did you make that and/or is it yours? I kind of want to make one!
Thanks, Kelly! We actually made that poster as the check-in for our wedding. We had a bunch of tiny little photos that people could write on and then pin to the map wherever they wanted.
