A long time ago I asked Mike what our dream home would look like if he ever had the chance to design it. I assumed it was an easy question, and that architects must envision their perfect home just like some little girls envision the details of their future weddings.
Mike has never answered that question though. He tells me that it’s impossible for him to envision what a house will look like without knowing its location. Surroundings are important.
The other day I was walking the streets of Boston and I found myself among buildings that are far from unfamiliar to me, but somehow looked new.
I couldn’t help but notice how well they don’t just complement each other, but also enhance each other through the reflection.
I guess surroundings do matter.

Beautiful pictures. Sometimes the surroundings are what create the feel of a place and keep you coming back or even stay there.

that picture is so neat Susan.
i agree, surroundings definitely do matter. there’s this quote i adore that says “home isn’t just a place – it’s a feeling.” and i think feeling has so much to do with what’s surrounding you!
