…you have the opportunity to come across new sights that you never knew existed, even if you’ve driven by them a hundred times. I spent most of last Saturday on foot, completing wedding errands, getting a manicure with my friend Shannon, and grabbing a weather-appropriate iced coffee.
While I walked I noticed a tiny public garden on a main road – people were strolling through it, enjoying the day. The sight of the garden literally stopped me in my tracks. But I wasn’t shocked because there was a garden, I was shocked I had never noticed it before.
When you walk, you also come across those everyday sights, the ones so recognizable they are often referred to as “famous.” And when you take the chance to look closely, you see themĀ from a whole new perspective and get a greater sense of appreciation.
When I looked up and saw the famous Citgo sign on a beautiful day while watching the Boston Marathon last week, I was immediately reminded of why I love Boston.
Have you started walking more now that it’s finally Spring? Any new sightings?

I love that Citgo sign…such classic Boston! I could see it from my room at MGH yesterday, off in the distance
Great shot!
I walk almost every day…across the fields and through the woods near my house. The signs of spring are everywhere….bluebells just starting to bloom, meadow flowers, cherry blossom, and the birds are very active
Don’t you love when that happens?? Sometimes (especially on a nice spring day) I’ll be walking through Boston and just be so amazed and happy that I actually live her. I don’t appreciate it enough!
When is your wedding, Susan? I think during my African travels, I must have missed that. It’s not too soon, is it??
I’ve just recently started exploring Nashville by foot, thanks to my work having moved downtown. And I absolutely adore finding new interesting things. It happens more often than I expect!
It makes me happy that you are doing the same thing in your city!
Today is an outlier, but I’d say this year is the first year I’ve noticed the prevalence of tulips all around this city! There are also AMAZING views in the Back Bay. If only I could afford to live there…
love it!
i miss doing my photo a day because i would get some great shots of the everyday and i would look for fun things i saw that were different.
