The other day I sat in front of the guest list for our wedding trying to fill out the missing contact information. As I sat there staring at the screen, calling various family members to pull email addresses, hometowns and zip codes, I came to a realization.
There will be a lot of travelers.
While the Wedding Channel had some great ideas for welcoming these guests and The Knot had ideas for making guests feel at home, I really want to start doing things now to make their trips more seamless and affordable.
After days of research and careful thought, I have come up with one idea:
~I set up bing travel updates based on where many of our guests are from. I entered their home airports and the dates they would most likely travel to get to our wedding. When the deals come in, I plan to forward them along.
That is my one tip for how to accommodate out of town guests to a wedding in advance. Do you have any suggestions?

Are you going to have a wedding website? I made my own on wordpress and included a page called ‘Things to do’ and listed restaurants and activities in Boston. Most of the people who flew in for our wedding called me to see what I suggested, they all spent about 2 weeks in New England before and after the wedding and made a vacation out of it. Good luck!
That is a great idea! I can’t think of anything, but that is a nice thing to do for your guests!
Good idea! It’s tough to think of things that would be helpful, but not require too much work on your part. I wonder if you could blog about discount for local events/restaurants and let the guests check that on their own? Things like the gift certificates for meals, discounted tickets for shows, etc.
That’s a fantastic idea! We’re going to have a lot of travelers to our wedding, as well, and I need to start thinking about things like this for everyone’s sake.
Thanks for the idea!
Ahhh that’s a great idea! there are so many fun things you can do. You should definitely put together a welcome basket for guests. Plus a wedding website is the easiest way to put all the info together for guests.
