When I studied abroad, I frequented a bar called the Thirsty Scholar in Cork. They had these tall, wooden barrels in the back that almost served as decoration.

Today, I frequent a bar called the Thirsty Scholar in Somerville. They have these tall barrels that stand on their side and serve as tables – they are my favorite place to sit.

Every time I go in I forget to ask if there is any relation, but there has to be, right?

Awww I wish there was a McGregor’s by me, because that was my favorite bar to frequent in college. Consider yourself lucky!
I don’t frequent Somerville enough. I LOVE that name: Thirsty Scholar Pub. How apt…
ha, you would think!
hahaha, one of the first pubs i drank at in cork was the thirsty scholar! we didn’t go there often, and i think i only went once when i was doing my MA, but it always brings back great memories of my first week in cork!
Oh, I miss Ireland!
They must be related somehow. The Somerville one is a great place for trivia!
We went to this kickass bar in Edinburgh called “The Last Drop”.
The gallows used to be right in front of it.
There’s a possibility about the relation in them. Probably the owner of the bar you go to now was inspired with the bar you used to go back then
I’m going to Cork in November! I’ll have to make sure I look for this place!
Aww, how fun! There has to be a connection, even if the only part of it is YOU. (:
I need a pub like that in my town pronto!
