a wedding getaway

This weekend I went to one of the most beautiful weddings ever and I’m not just saying that because the bride and groom are close friends.

For the past few weeks, most of New England was hit with rain that seemed like it would never end, but the second this special weekend arrived, the sun finally came around. We couldn’t have asked for better weather.

Set in Narraganset, RI, both the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception took place with a view of the ocean. At the dinner on Friday, Mike and I enjoyed the view and the company.

The dinner was delicious and it was complete with traditional New England dishes like Rhode Island clam cakes and clam chowder. Mike and I sat at a table with Greg’s family, who flew in from California for the occasion, and it was so fun hanging out with them.

The next morning I got up bright and early to get my hair done for the first time since I went to a prom, along with Kerry and the other brides maids. That afternoon, we hopped into a limo and were off to a beautiful ceremony, which was followed by photos outside of the church and right by the beach, next to a lighthouse.

If you scroll back up to that picture of Mike and I, take a look at the top left corner – that castle-like building is where the reception took place. I think the best way to describe it is elegant.

This beautiful setting leads to a dance floor followed by a balcony that overlooks the water.

We danced and celebrated all night. And next weekend, I get to do it all over again when I get ready to attend the wedding of yet another friend.
