He estado tratando de aprender español desde el septiembre pasado. Comencé a estudiar antes que mi viaje a El Salvador para visitar Sue. Durante mi viaje gocé hablar con los locals tanto que quise continuar aprender, tan escucho el Método de Pimsleur CD en mi coche cuando conduzco al trabajo todo los días.
I have been trying to learn Spanish since last September. I began to study before my trip to El Salvador to visit Sue. During my trip I enjoyed speaking with the locals so much that I wanted to continue to learn, so I listen to the Pimsleur Method CD’s in my car on the way to work every day.

I have graduated to Spanish III, High Intermediate Lesson B – can you tell? Don’t ask me how long that took to throw together and please don’t assume it is correct. In all transparency, I looked up “enjoy” and I also looked up words I knew had accents so I could copy and paste them because I don’t know how to type accents on my computer.
I love the Pimsleur method and what I love even more is that I can get the CDs at the library for free (other than my last 80 cent late fee). The first time I threw the CD into my car I couldn’t get over how poorly I spoke. It was a realization of how little I was prompted to speak during Spanish class in high school and college and when prompted to speak, my accent was never corrected. Though I understand why – perfecting the accents of an entire classroom couldn’t possibly outweigh the importance of completing a lesson plan – I was still shocked at my inability to say the word “metro” even though I do know how to roll my ‘Rs.’
I also love listening to the CDs in my car because between work and this blog and you know, trying to live my life, I don’t have time to sit down and study Spanish. Listening in my car on my way to work is the most efficient way.
Tonight on the way home, I had to rewind the disc five times after a certain phrase, only to realize that I would never really hear what it was. What’s worse, because I could not understand it, I can’t look it up because I can’t spell it. It is a phrase used when saying goodbye like “take care” and right now I forget the literal translation.
This predicament made me realize that the tables have turned. As I progress with speaking the language, I am failing when it comes to learning to read and write- hence, that little exercise up there.
I guess if I want to really learn, I will have to carve out time to actually read and write- maybe I have some old school books lying around…
I wanna learn spanish too, i only know basic words and converstions. What’s the easiest way to learn?:)

I forget so much of the Spanish I learned in high school. You’d probably never know I ever even took it! Haha.
I wish I had stuck with it but I tested out in college and thought, COOL! One less class to take!

There’s gotta be a trick, but I never know how to type in those accent marks…not that I type in spanish much, either. I’m impressed with your abilities!

If you want to learn Spanish, there are ways to have a lesson every day. This lessons are short, fun, and very up to date. There is a cultural show, a cooking show, just try it out. The website is spanishpod.com You can download them, play them on your computer,
ipod etc.
I’m the opposite, I can read it. But writing or speaking is where I have my problems. As was influenced by my recent trip to Spain where according to my roomie I spoke LOLCat Spanish!
