As part of my promise to myself during this week of non-work, I made it up to the lovely Newburyport, MA on Tuesday with my friend Bryce. Newburyport is about 42 miles north of Boston and is located on the south bank of the Merrimack River at the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a seaport town filled with history and character.
On this boardwalk, the memorial for the Heather Lynne II fishing boat stands. And on the memorial, a plaque was placed to memorialize the captain and crew of the fishing vessel Lady Luck- lost at sea off the coast of Maine on Jan. 31, 2007.

After strolling the boardwalk, we made it into what would have been a bustling downtown if the day were sunnier. We stopped into an Estate Jewelry shop to check out antiques and vintage jewelry and also passed by a number of boutiques that were closed, most likely due to the weather.
My favorite part of each store in Newburyport is the pride and attention to detail that is paid to every product by each owner. We stopped at Grand Trunk Old World Market, which has an impressive inventory of wines from various countries and cheeses that looked delicious.

The owner takes the time to write out descriptions of each wine, which shows off his impressive depth of knowledge and the pride that he has in his work.

Just after stopping for lunch, the heavy rain began to pour, pushing us back into my little corrolla and then back to Boston. I can’t wait to return when the weather is warmer.

These pictures are beautiful. Reminds me of San Francisco. Looks like tons of fun!

I like chillin on the port when I have the chance. Looking at it from inside the cofee shop while it rains outside and you’re drinking a hot cup of cocoa also helps to make it all better

We have been enjoying Newburyport for years! Great town, shops, restaurants. Next time you visit, drive through town, to Plum Island, take a right, and visit the wildlife refuge. You can enjoy great beaches, nature walks, photo opportunities, and lots of open space for biking, hiking, observing wildlife, and beachcombing…we like it best during non-peak hours/seasons.
it looks awesome
maybe if i have some time while in new england, but it appears if all my weekends are going by so fast!
