Spring is here and I am excited to be able to walk around and explore my neighborhood without having to climb over snow piles and tip toe over patches of ice. The train is a fifteen minute walk from my house so the nice weather also means that I do not have to drive my car as much. I can’t wait to be able to get exercise from something other than an elliptical.
In anticipation, for the past few months I have been in search for a good walking sneaker.
I spotted an amazing pair of Puma sneakers at Berk’s Shoes in Harvard Square a few weeks ago, when Mike and I walked there on a randomly nice day, but I’m not sure that I am ready to drop 70 something dollars.
I am also in walking distance to a Saucony Outlet, here I found some great running sneakers that I plan to buy, but they didn’t have many options in the walking shoe department.
I have always been a New Balance girl, but I have found that the outlet, which is about ten minutes away from me, doesn’t have the kind of options you would expect, though it does have good prices.
My sister introduced me to the fact that you can design your own shoe with Converse. She recently “designed” an obnoxious pair that are bright blue with pink stitching, have a touch of green and her name is sewn into the side in pink – Jenny Fo. You don’t get more customized than that.

These shoes seem to never go out of style.
In addition to bold colors, you can also create a shoe with animal print and funky designs. Jenny told me that because she had her shoes custom designed it took 5 weeks for them to arrive, but apparently, it was worth it.
Do you have a favorite, stylish and frugal walking shoe you could recommend?

I can’t live without my Converse. I know they probably do horrible things to my feet, but they’re always so comfy. Plus they go with pretty much anything I can think of wearing.

I’m a New Balance girl, as well, but I love my Chucks. Unfortunately, they aren’t too comfy for walking now, as I’ve owned them for more than three years.

I’m not a sneaker fan – I much prefer shoes, flats, flip flops or heels. I think I hate just wearing socks and closed toe shoes! But that is cool how you can customize the Converses.

Funny, I have that exact pair of Converse.

honestly, being a strung out fashionista wannabe- i usually wear either flip flops or flats when exploring boston during the spring/summer!
