It’s officially been three months in our new apartment, as of two days ago, and we are really making progress in the homeyness department. Candles abound, a comfy couch complements a vintage, orange chair and Mike’s great grandmother’s dining room table is great for holding everything but our meals.
However, aside from my beautiful world map, our walls are still bare.
So, we have decided to fill them with our travel photos – and this has been a slow moving, but diligent process…

No, they aren’t up on the walls yet – but we are so close!
Mike and I ordered some of our favorite photos from Kodak Gallery and Flickr a few weeks ago. The next step was to find frames and mattes that would make them look nice without spending a lot of money.
The Christmas Tree Shop is the natural option. Each 5×7 matte costs around $2.00 and the 8×10 frames cost about $3.99. You can’t tell they are that cheap can you?
Pictured above are each of our memories of Ireland, Guatemala, Italy, California, England, our yearly weekends in Gloucester, MA and our hometown.
Framing your travels and finding the perfect way to display them when you return is essential. And, when you are stuck in the same place for too long, surrounding yourself with your past adventures doesn’t make it seem so bad…

I love how I went to school for printing/publishing and I have still yet focused on printing out any of our travel pix. They are all stuck in my MacBook!
Agreed on Christmas Tree Shop being a savior in the frames department!

That’s the great thing about matching frames – if they all go together, they automatically look more expensive. I have a great set of b&w photos up from my travels, and they make me smile every time I look at them

You guys are lucky to have been able to travel to so many places together. My bf freelances and it’s hard to plan trips around his schedule. We’re hoping to go to Italy this year and hopefully we’ll have lots of pictures to hang of our adventure. I’ll definitely have to remember where to get frames!

I started doing that with some of my travel pictures, or just pictures I’ve taken and loved the way they’ve come out. I have one from my Israel trip, one from when I went to see the Waterfalls underneath the Brooklyn Bridge, and a gorgeous one from City Island in the Bronx. I feel like hanging blown up photos on the wall is such a personal touch!

i have always wanted to create a wall just like that – now i just need to actually PRINT out photos. ha
So true! I keep saving them for that “one day” when I have more time to sit down and pick out the best ones…
BTW, I am going to Brazil in two weeks!

When I moved into my apartment here, my mother made me get some of my photographs framed. I am really pleased that she forced me into doing that because my walls look so homey now. (Yes, because walls can look homey. Haha.)
I hope everything is going well and that your walls are all decorated and beautiful now!
