Have you read 1,000 Places To See Before You Die?

My friend Bryce gave this to me as a gift a while back. You remember Bryce, the solo traveler to Peru. As you can see, she even took the time to make notes and narrow things down with those little bookmarks at the top – which I thought was very thoughtful. Inside this book, she also included a quote by Mark Twain:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
It seems as though the economy is infiltrating everything. This Boston winter seems just a little bit colder than last year, the thought of going out with friends is tainted by concerns about my wallet and my excitement about President Obama stepping in and bringing change, is overshadowed by my impatience.
I needed a little inspiration heading into the weekend…

i think we all need a little inspiration right now! thanks for sharing that Mark Twain quote. i love that one

Susie, that book rocks, they make another book that is just for the US, which has a lot more economical options. Also for the winter/wallet blues I suggest PBR at sligos, hahahaha.
awww I’m feeling the cold crappy January blues too! That’s such a neat gift and very sweet that she included all of those notes… can’t pick up something personal like that at Borders

My cousin just gave me this book last month! I love it, though now I feel all this pressure to see everything. It’s a little overwhelming . . . I need to narrow things down a bit. I’m hoping to go to Scotland this summer, so I guess that’s a start!

I can relate about your thoughts about the economy, the weather and the impatience. We’ve been feeling that way for quite a long time here in Michigan
This was one of the books I gave away as part of my raffle prize for Passports with Purpose (we already had the US version, and stuck with that one for ourselves as it had more realistic options for us at this point, as karl suggested here).
I love the Twain quote, too. Thanks for sharing.
How fun! You’ve got a great friend! And I LOVE that quote. Thanks for sharing it!
That’s an amazing quote – and it looks like that book is being well loved!

I love that your friend gave you that book with the bookmarks. That’s awesome! Every time we go on vacation we buy a book of other places to visit. It always gets us thinking about where we want to go next. Now if I only had the money to go anywhere I want to!!

Hello, I did a tour in different cities of Peru. I hired the travel agency TurPeru that organized all my tours to places like Colca Canyon, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, among other destinations. My vacations were wonderful and I hope to repeat it in my next trip where I plan to know the north of this country. Personally, I think it’s best to hire a travel agency, I did it and was very good. I leave the link of the agency http://www.turperu.com.pe
