I am interrupting the regularly scheduled travel gear tuesday to draw attention to an historic day – a day that I have been excited about for a very long time.
Today is President-elect Barack Obama‘s inauguration ceremony. I wish I could be in Washington, D.C. today.
While I do not get to experience this first hand, my DVR is all set up. And, I did come upon a cool fact that brings the excitement close to home. Barack Obama lived in my current town while attending Harvard Law School. Between 1989 and 1991 he lived in the Winter Hill area of Somerville.

Things are looking up…

Our DC office gets the day off for this – I too am jealous. But, we have the option to watch in our conference room…though I think t hat means we have to work late to meet billability…sigh!
Our office had ‘Yes, we can *inspired* pizza’ in the kitchen and everyone gathered to watch him on tv. What an exciting time and cool news about somerville

I know what you mean, I would have given anything to be in DC today. I had to settle for watching TV in a crowded conference room. Today should have been a national holiday!

I took the day off to wander downtown (luckily I live about seven or eight blocks from the White House) and it was an amazing experience to be part of! There’s no way to explain how happy people were to be there, despite getting stuck in crowds, freezing in the cold weather, and enduring other snafus that threatened to upset their plans.
I felt the same way Tuesday. I wish I had been in DC to experience the inauguration, but I got goosebumps just by watching it on TV!
