I feel like I have not been myself lately, and by that I mean, the thought of lying around and doing nothing for longer than an hour no longer repulses me. I am not constantly restless nor do I have the need to be always doing something productive.
Is it because I love my apartment that much and my new couch is really that comfortable? I doubt it. Maybe I just forgot that Boston’s winters drive everyone to stay inside – including me.
It snowed suddenly yesterday and I had to nix my plans to head to Natick to see Mike’s aunt and cousins, who had flown in from Oregon for the week.
I did get out on Saturday night, with Lisa, Bryce and Alexis, Lisa’s friend who was visiting from Jersey. We had a hip dinner at Match and then a glass of wine at the ever so trendy Sonsie. Stepping in on Lisa’s hosting for the weekend made me realize that, while I will most likely not get on a plane this year due to little things like the economy, tons of weddings, etc., I will have the opportunity to host friends from out of the country this year. And the best part, they are friends made from having traveled to their countries – and being able to show them where I am from is a decent substitute for making that big trip.
Soon, a new friend from El Salvador will be in Boston, and for that reason I will need to get out of this funk and brush up on my Spanish. In March, a friend from Cork, who now lives in London, will be visiting. All this anticipation is causing me to reminisce. So here are some memories of…
Me, walking the streets of Cork.

And climbing mountains in El Salvador.

Now that it has stopped snowing in Boston, and because I have the day off, I am off to Natick to visit Mike’s family.

Ugh, this weather is killing me! I do love being lazy, but I’m ready to start being productive again, so I can totally understand where your coming from.

you don’t need to be lazy. you can come and sit around bars in the afternoon with me and bryce–it is super productive. we find out a lot about ourselves and the people we hope not to become.
Hosting friends from abroad sounds like a perfect middle ground – even if you’re longing to hop on a plane = )
i’m absurdly jealous of your day off today. that being said – have fun on your day trip!
