it’s 2009

And apparently, I’m domestic now.

It actually began after a NYE celebration with my best friends and boyfriend- a night that began in chaos and ended in a pretty good time. As if the snow storm wasn’t crazy enough, the pizza I ordered online to have delivered vanished- which lead to a last minute run to the supermarket for frozen pizza. Also, until minutes before arrival, the number of guests to my apartment for pre-celebrating constantly hovered between approximately 2 and 8, making it virtuously impossible to plan. Though I think Mike and I came out on top because right now we have three unopened bottles of champagne and our fridge looks like it belongs in a college dorm.

New Year's Eve

Thereafter, my long weekend consisted of going to the Christmas Tree Shop in Somerville to purchase photo frames and other homey things for our apartment. And then, Bed Bath & Beyond and Target to pick up some stuff to help us get organized. I even made it to the gym.

On Saturday night, Mike and I took a cab to the North End, grabbed drinks at ArtĂș and then dinner at Pomodoro. I commented on how yuppie of us that was and then Mike reminded me that real yuppies don’t shop at the Christmas Tree Shop – touchĂ©.

Yesterday I made great strides in my jewelry organization:

I purchased these fancy cork boards and some push pins at Target and Mike hung them up for me. I am hoping this method, as opposed to throwing all of my jewelry into a tiny drawer, will prevent it from getting tangled.

Last night I also got started on resolution #5: I made shepherd’s pie with some leftover mashed potatoes after calling my mom to ask her how to make it all by myself. I must say it turned out pretty good.

So, here’s to 2009, a depressingly large amount of full day work weeks ahead, the hope of sticking to my resolutions, an organized apartment and more consistent blog posts…
