hosting architects

While putting together a list of places that our friends from Philly had already seen in Boston so as to avoid repeats, Mike mentioned the fact that the only sites he ever thinks to show are buildings and bars.

When Al and Steph arrived last Friday after Thanksgiving, the first thing we did after showing off our new place was head to Cambridge to check out MIT’s Stata Center designed by Frank Ghery.

I always ask Mike and his friends what they think of various buildings because I am curious about what they see in them. It is so much more than me – and we are looking at the exact same thing. There was an overall consensus that it wasn’t as impressive as it sought out to be.

Then we went to a dorm – Simmons Hall, MIT – a building designed by Steven Holl.

They felt much better about this one.

And now, I am off to be hosted by my friend Sue in Guatemala and El Salvador – I am can’t wait to report back!
