travel gear tuesday: i’m on a flats kick

Flats are an important part of traveling, in my humble opinion. While you are better off wearing sneakers or something that will actually support your feet for the longer adventures, if you are visiting a friend in another city and have more casual strolls planned (and also want to wear a cute outfit that actually matches your footwear) flats are the way to go.

Having just moved into a neighborhood with an abundance of places to walk, and the fact that cold weather is pushing out the flip flops, restocking my flats collection was imperative. It is also part of my decision to settle down on the heels. Being five feet tall, I can’t help but feel empowered and confident when I’ve got an added three inches (at least). But with the long walk that I have from my car every morning all the way to my office, and the fact that my knees are still recovering from my rugby days, I have realized that I must sacrifice the confidence more of the time.

Until recently, I put the majority of my shoe budget toward heels. But, this is my most recent purchase…

Apparently Spring has just made its first debut in Massachusetts with its recent opening in the CambridgeSide Galleria. This place has adorable shoes that are actually affordable. However, I am a little upset because I wore them once and the seams on the left shoe are already starting to come undone. I plan to make an exchange- I will let you know how that customer service experience goes down.

Another recent purchase took me to my go to place for flats – Target.

I love them, when I wear them I can’t stop looking at them. I have also been going back to an older pair that I got at Target…

These are pretty beat up, but for about $20 and considering all the wear and tear, they have definitely done the trick.

When I travel, I do always have a pair of sneakers and my trusty pair of rainbows (in warm weather) because they are the most comfortable flip flop ever.

Where else can I get cheap, but cute, flats besides Target?
