cupcakes you can feel good about

Last Sunday a quick stroll for lunch with Lisa turned into a meander around Davis Square in search for some ice cream. And when we couldn’t find any, it became a search for coffee that wasn’t from Starbucks*.

Does Davis Square really not have a local coffee shop?

A family stopped us at a corner and asked if we knew where the cupcake place was. Lisa let them know that it was down the street and in her quick response, assured them that they didn’t have to resort to saying kickass in front of their kids because she knew which one they meant.

Kickass Cupcakes, I have recently discovered, is truly a kickass place to get a cupcake. When our search for two polar opposite treats left us empty handed, we decided to give Kickass Cupcakes a shot – and found it to be the perfect happy medium.

They use all natural ingredients and no hydrogenated oils, trans fats, artificial flavors or preservatives. They also Think Local. Shop Local. If you think any of this compromises the taste of the cupcakes, you are wrong. And, they taste as good as they look…

I had the Mocchiatto.

Lisa had this one, if I remember correctly, it is the Berry Crumbly.

My only complaint is that they weren’t bigger so we could enjoy more.

*I love Starbucks, but why go for what you know when you are exploring a new place?
